82. Fuel and Food

Ideals/Personal
At the very least I could do for people lingering around the net with the existence of my blog is to update. Not obliging but of interest and fun which led to the conception of this blog.

And for Razor, who expressed his want of seeing an update. Thanks for joining our mini ball volleying morning exercise. Plenty soon. Some kicking ones.

What day is today? What significance does it bring? Nothing much. But for those celebrating and praying, Merry your Christmas happy the new year.

What does it mean to me?
1. A public holiday
2. Parents will be off from work
3. Going out or staying at home with parents
4. Collect presents from babysitter's house (years ago haha)
5. Being in Penang (but maybe not in the future, maybe)
6. Seeing chaos and somewhat polluted people at hype places (only for these few years because I only started to go out on the streets)
7. 6 days away from Global New Year

Nothing much.

But if you do have presents for me, do present it to me. I will sincerely find something to repay your kindness. Sadly, I am the lame and hopeless present buyer/giver for any occasion.

*

My main point is being alive and this blog is not abandoned.

With this comeback, I would like to congratulate Argyll Roti Canai stall for the upgrade, development and relocation to become a restaurant..as in it is now in a shop lot.

http://aini.rumahatiku.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/argyll-road-canai.jpg

No means of plagiarism but just linking and referring. That's the old place. Just some 4-cars-long distance from there is their new place. No photo of the new place, go see it for yourself.

It's my self-induced gratitude to give some recognition and promotion to them here. That's the Argyll Road RC which you somehow would have came across the term in my old posts. Situated near Ah Hooi's place. Argyll Road la..tahu-tahulah.dari Penang Road dan di penjuru tiga situ.

My opinion of pros and cons.
Pros:
1. Cleaner
2. More space, to accomodate for more customers
3. Proper place for business
4. Safer

Cons:
1. Hot if ventilation fails
2. The sink place blocks some places of seats so communication and ordering deteriorates
3. May lose the original feel and somehow taste (in terms of environment)

Point 3 of cons are in my opinion the disasters to many places which have done a similar change. The loss of the original feel. Sometimes a cleaner, brightly lit and tiled place isn't a good match to the great preparation of great food.

This applies greatly in Penang. Cos penang is environmental. Its phenomenal food recognition and exquisiteness especially for the hawker food pay due homage to the environment. Just that. But the environment is quickly fluctuating already succumbing to modernisation and infrastructure development into a much busier place.

No big deal. Nothing stays forever.*

At least for me. It's also the homeliness which I adore of Penang. Not related to Malaysian Hospitality.

*"You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain/victim" kinda applies. You live long enough to see an empire fall or you die remembering it as a great place.

*

Ok, to date...after coming back, the local food I had taken was:
1. RC
2. Jones Road Hainan Loh Mee
3. Fettes Park Hainanese Western Food - (wth..price increases while portion decreases)
4. Subaidah nasi kandar
5...

I think so.

81. Epic Love Story

no no..no romance for me please.
but yeah, some armageddon-like action packed earth crust destabilizing volcanic tsunami washing of the sins.

...with the appearance of "B. B King's long lost distant cousin"-look-alike.

wouho, the modern day "arks" have hydraulics and gearings in their systems. And the Antonov super jumpo carrier has many deluxurious cars..sorry I mixed deluxe and luxurious together.

"Engine, start.."

It's a super family love story. A tearless man like me could have cried if they were to show more families drowning.

2012

Good balance as a show on the collapse of the Earth's crust. They kept a balance in the appearance of the actors and scenes of destructions. Exhilirating. My hands were automatically gripped and held in some religious position of meditation. Don't ask me why. It's just sprititual to see the Earth swallowing up human's artworks. hah.

I would want to be in Charlie's position in the time of death. Get the best shot from nature.

Build tall skyscrapers just to see them fall in the end right?

And they should have included Malaysia's famous landmarks to be broken into two or three such as the bridge and some towers.

The President's daughter is ... in the movie.

80 Stairway to Heaven Denied

Personal/Ideals
~inspired by a column in my magazine with the title, "stairway denied" dedicated to Mr. Layne Staley.

This great dead man was introduced to me by The Man. He found a song which is sang by the man in Terminator 3. That part specifically is when the engine was started by Marcus the radio plays a song and he said, "..a song my brother used to listen".

He sang about the man in the box. He denied and was denied. And then he became the man in the box.

So, right. I was denied a few things. Not a big deal. Just that timing is not right.

Penang Bridge Run - 22 November - Sunday - I couldn't manipulate what the lecturers want on the following Monday....I don't want to fail and retake my subject in the next year.

Hikathon - 18 October - Sunday - ditto...same case with the freaking monday

[The tool to defy the skies. Who is there to deny your wings...]

WACK NUTS! ..you decide which meaning you would like to base on.

Yer see, not everything will come the way you want or like it.

It's alright. there's countless of things coming and going. The ones which don't are countables. Meaning, it's just so few to be compared to the good things in our life that prevail.

Unless if you're dead unlucky, yours are countless instead. I express for my empathy.

But if you do not believe in luck. Then work harder or smarter. Work your own way up.

Don't fret, everyone's through it. Just the different way and method of resolving. And the finale. For example, one dies when God loves him more so he's taken back to heaven. Some dies because Satan loves him more. Some just got into deep shit. Certain ones, they defy and deny...yet to occur.

Well, I will have a lyrics to accompany this time. Enjoy. the music video of this song has been posted before last year haha.

Ozzy Osbourne - Gets Me Through

I'm not the kind of person you think I am
I'm not the anti-christ or the iron man
I have a vision that I just can't control
I feel I've lost my spirit and sold my soul
Got no control

I try to entertain you the best I can
I wish I'd started walking before I ran
But I still love the feeling I get from you
I hope you'll never stop cause it gets me through yeah
It gets me through yeah

The feelings that I hide behind
Sometimes reality's unkind
The nightmares stalk for me at night
I dread the long and lonely nights

I'm not the kind of person you think I am
I'm not the anti-christ or the iron man
But I still love the feeling I get from you
I hope you'll never stop cause it gets me through yeah

I'm just trying to live yeah.

[Stairway to Heaven is also a songtitle by Led Zeppelin]

79. Delayed: Smooth Holiday Operation

Personal/Ideals
"Befriend our Earth & Universe: Earth, rotating at its own axis, partially receiving the ray of sunlight with the Moon to accompany its journey round the Star. So we have day and night. After each night, you cross out a slot from the calendar. Make the crossing meaningful, enjoy every single hour you have having fun with friends and family. I did it, my one week holiday feel like one month worth of joy. Feel good cheers."~wallpost from Facebook

Back to you KCH, Rooster for yer. BB and SRV for YW and all of us. And Mustaine to crush all of you guys.

I have to post this a little later than maybe expected due to internet connection problem, courtesy of Streamyx. And... this is quite a lengthy one. It's personal journal. Or activity story-telling.

"Imagine, you see stars shining and lights shimmering, but there is no god to reach for"

Just a quote that I'm referring to to the modem internet signal lights blinking with no line coming in.

So yeah, I had one week of great fun. If I were to compare blindly the activities and amount of joy shed from this holiday to any previous holidays, the latest would definitely fall short and abrupt. But let's count the satisfaction rating that is conceived in the heart and the brain.

This latest holiday week would be the best...though I forgot to invite Razeen for football the second time when he could actually make it already(i think so).

Why would I claim that this time the fun is as or more exhilirating than the rest when it's only 1 week long. I believe it's the outcome and post-fun satisfaction..whatever you could comprehend. I believe I end all the activities moderately with the feeling in the guts saying, "nothing lasts forever". Whereas the other times I had fun blindly, and were fun-thirsty for more. That explains the karma-ish perception of fun.

This time, I enjoyed and in my heart I said, "well, let's have things in balance. For friends and family. I know time is limited. So spend it wisely." Furthermore in my head, with the rest of my studymates we already had a common plan to have a job training this coming end of the year after the final exams. This reserve of time and emotion has a good onset to the settling down of my play-hard-non-stop guts.

So it shows, that I'm ready. It's not all just about having fun all the time. If you want to work with the extremes, then "Work hard, Play hard". But I supposed, there should be of moderation.

I did say too recently on spending up the holidays, I want to relax more. Anyway, back in Penang friends such as Hooi and KY have STPM on their way. Thus, I balanced my holidays spending balanced time with my family and friends. More meals together with family. More time spent back in the house, the presence of me completes the family home sweet home. As my mother quoted, "we could see Jared more often this time".

Partly also because I grow more mature as a person who comes back for holidays regularly already since last year. We actually had more than enough fun already, come to think of it. It's in the growing maturity, the essence of our youth that is. Hopefully wise youths like you reading me now agree with me.

"We'll live to see your god standing alongside us someday"

How so? We're going to outlive and outgrow the holy image someday after living and learning long enough to be able to stand by ourselves. Maybe I'm denying your maker. But give me the benefit of doubt, I shall live the way I could with principles.

zap zap zap god strikes wrath zap zap zap

This is for the 8th time I come back home since I left home sweet home in July last year.
So I had this so-called reunion. This time it's simple. It's not like any other time we could get together and actually appreciate it. We did it this time, at least to my eyes and heart. We have: Hooi, YW, KY, Jonathan, Jon and me myself. The basic brotherhood of mine. I didn't really care about what activity we're gona do. As the "playmaker" hahaa I just just wana make sure that we get along in something fun even though the planning is messy.

Here it goes:
1. the not-so-successful Dim Sum breakfast, nevermind cos it feeds [Me, KY, Jon + g]
2. Main course: Bowling [All + g1 +g2] - The Singaboy Jon pwns with the highest points scored
3. the confused-plan Sushi lunch at Queensbay, nevermind cos it feeds again [All + g1 + g2 - KY]
4. Spontaneous plan: Movie: The Ugly Truth [same] - good movie that could make me laugh
5. Simple dinner at kopitiam [Me, Jon, YW, Hooi + g] - I enjoy the chicken feet
6. Reunite - CC Dota challenge cos we have 3v3 [All + g]
~Dota score tally: YW-3, HOOI-2, me-2, JON-1, JONA-1, KY-1 [3 games]

- g stands for girl for privacy purpose heh.

And yeah, we had our overnight reunion too YW's. This time KY and Jona were the ones pia till morning on a PS3 game, Resident Evil 5. For your information, the previous games were Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas and Siren 2. Graphic and shocking games in the darkness. Oh yeah, Little Wing jam has been a great start. We'll work further on improving it.

Guitar Hero:
Jona - vocals - fail (on Michael Jackson - Beat It)
Me - drums - fail (on Linkin Park - What I've Done -Expert) haha

heyy, but YW and I did great on Seven Nation Army. I realised I have to get high as in high on drugs on the beats to stay in-time. shux.

The rest: Football, Hiking, Football, Batu Lanchang Market, Esplanade Mee Sotong, Argyll Road RC and Swatow Lane.

And, here's to something fun and really random. I missed a turning to Hooi's house after leaving Esplanade. I was on the right lane and mentioned about the ferry. Hooi simply suggested, "wana sit ferry?" Oh? Alright, let's go then. As the traffic light turns green my left signal blinked furiously and I received honkings from all directions as I cut into everyone's lanes into the port. So there we YW, Hooi and me myself were. A Viva la Ride on the Penang ferry service. To Butterworth. uhoh.

And then, that was my first time driving on the Penang Bridge. YW snoozing away quick. All tired from the whole day worth of hike, sky-praising, mee-sotong and ferry cruise.

Appall for the anti-Nikes. I bought a Nike goalkeeping gloves. At a low price, my dream finally came through after 7 years of wanting one. Comfortable and superb, as commended by Jason.

Updated: Rock-@$$ a.k.a Ass-rock (in my roll of links.

I think, my next demo recording may be a Happy Birthday song. When, subject to how free I am. How, it's gona be a 2- or 3-track recording. Hopefully, I will be successful in tackling the timing setback this time.

Ambition no.3: Sound Engineering - in recording and production.

New ambition plan: Join the Air Force (RMAF).

78. Rock n Roll Getaway

Review/Ideals/Personal
Nice number 78..part of 787, the new model series head of Boeing aircrafts. And there's 3 parts to this post. A review, an ideal and the personal account of storytelling. Spend your time wisely.

http://www.chickenfoot.us/

Check out the website I tell you... Cool video in the front. Chickenfoot has 4 fine veteran rock n roll musicians namely, Sammy, Joe, Michael and Chad from 3 fine veteran rock bands. With their musical expertise and experience, expect great music and super good classic-cum-hard rock experience created in the modern time that is now. I enjoyed particularly the totally orgasmic professional sound mixing and recording. The songs are super clear, crisp and powerful.

Those who like electric guitar very much may know Joe Satriani. Those who deal with the classic era of hard rock will know Van Halen (Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony). Those who like Red Hot Chili Peppers should know Chad Smith. I don't know any more about their other side projects, apologies.

So I am recommending it you readers to visit the website and make sure the required plugin is installed, average audio speakers...advisable to use ear/headphones cos Laptop built-in speakers are only fuxes to audio-people. For rock, they definitely kill your parents when you turn them on loud (and totally kill me)...you only hear dirt and audio noises. oh yeah back to the website... Let the video play. And you listen and watch, enjoy.

Their songs I can say, are written based on elements of rock n roll songs that existed since the beginning of the era and meshed to a great compilation. I mean by hearing, you could distinguish all the rock/blues pattern and significant styles. So it's kinda a perfect innovation of rock n roll. Of Satriani, I can safely say the guitars are all as pure as himself in terms of effects, riffs and melody styles.

In the song Oh Yeah they sing about hoochie-koochie man. We pay respect to Muddy Waters...woohoo I am just doing it like B.B. King who mentioned about the great bluesman from Chicago.

*

Here I am, I would like to stress on audio-loving and music quality experiences. In order to enjoy as much and understand what I describe and state on them sound stuffs, you will quite have to have the minimum requirements such as similar sound devices like I have, similar or better quality and performance. Really, cos I really find laptop built-in speakers awful and blaring out cb sound. But I appreciate them, because when I am lazy or do not possess any headsets at the moment I will need them. Simple.

I am someone, who may be fussy. Not sure how do I compare myself to or as an audiophile. I get satisfaction from separated left/right sound projections, or even better if proper surround is applied, true quality as of recorded particularly on the positions of the sound being received(left/right thingy). I buy selected original music discs. They offer uncompromised sound projection. Downloading is alright, 128kbps of bitrate is by strictest the minimum value.

Don't forget bass properties. But not too much please, I ain't big time fan of hip-hop/dance music which people usually pump up in the car audio systems. Boom Boom. Respect bass though. It's a part of the 3 parts of sound forms, bass, mid and treble....something like that in regard to low-mid-high. So with good hearing device and good quality songs, you could hear the full sound of music. That's music from the technical side. Rock is so greatly composed of these elements. Missing any of them, the rock lost its power. Rock band basic: guitars/bass/drum.

And your laptop built-in speakers (if your laptop is a super high end built with actually what I call audio speakers then beg my pardon), do not offer bass at all! Test it. You hear higher frequencies only. Pop music ok. Classical music not so bad...but you lose all the basses. The low sounds. With my first demo record, if you listen to it without the bass you're definitely not gona enjoy because the bass part is what makes the recording a music recording. It would sound dry and flat.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Here's the personal side. Went to Midvalley that day. "Company" to the couple, of my roommate. Of course not full time. Only lunch and movie. The rest is my solo journey round in the mall. I had what Hooi termed as "the rocker's shopping list" haha. More like a music amateur/enthusiasts basic wishlist.

Compiled.
Walked up and down while "rinsing my eyes" with the view of fatal "booby" traps. I survived. Rock Corner. Movie Magic. Guitar Collection. Beatspot Yamaha. ATM. Studio R.

Those are:
-Chickenfoot album
-B.B. King - Live by Request with guest appearance by Jeff Beck
-D'Addario Light Top/Heavy Bottom

My latest, and it's my super favourite now. Transparent and rainbow in colour. Ideal 0.7mm medium gauge.

oohyeah, first time I saw a jersey which can fit me. S size. One of the new Arsenal kits.
[one of the heroes]
oohyeah, I suddenly became very interested in watching and supporting football. I even participated in it. I have this Sharqawi, my classmate as my guru. He's in the U-21 Malaysian squad. Ooohyeah, I borrowed Adidas Predator already. Come, Youth Park. Raya Open - Morning exercise with Football. Ah Hooi and Jason confirmed. I just need to pump the ball.

And I'm so gona get an original Arsenal home jersey one day, definitely a nicer design one (e.g this current season kit). Bootleg ones with my fitting size are rare I think..

1 week holiday back in Penang. Reunion planned. Let's see how smiles are flashed by nature. ~"Remember, I am the playmaker"

77. Bucket Psyche

Personal/Ideals
Delayed the demo weeks already... At first, I thought the lucky double 7 post would be just a personal update. As soon I clicked on the New Post, I thought of one decision. It shall be a start to uploading my own personal demos and recordings. Which means I am going to embark on a new work. Yeah, already in my mind. But lack of convenience-excused-time has been crippling the juices.

A simple method for improvement. You readers/musicians/music-enthusiasts/lovers may leave comments and give feedbacks on them. And we can learn together. This is a way other than jamming with fellow players. By far, I'd had done simple jammings a couple of times but they do not provide efficient learning because I hadn't been too serious. Plus distractions and all. Remember, the work for passion.

Musicians from all over everywhere on
Earth (may include Satch cos I suspect he came from the space..heh) have said well enough about getting together and play is certainly a great way to improve. Learning never ends right..

So, I am trying to find more friends and acquaintances to come together to teach and learn. Teaching is also good, up to where ever level you could. Sharing is caring too hehe.. Well, I'm not so good at doing videos like millions in youtube and I'm somewhat lazy to get an account so I'm doing audio only for now. If time and convenience is appears vast I will put an effort in doing shots of cam-focus-playing. Otherwise, you'd just see me appearing with other players such as YW and Hooi in the future. A target is put, play with Kelvyn Yeang one day as he'd invited for countless times already.cool.

Practice makes ~"perfect"~. But I didn't practise effectively though. Alright, without further ado (fuhh..learnt new english word usage..) I hereby upload my cover on Buckethead - Wondering. A very simple in fact super simple song. Just to kickstart this new adventure.
~My demo is in the filefactory, hidden. Simply click NEXT song until you see it.

Note: Only the dynamics and notes are hit according to the song but without the Bucket's effects and backgrounds. I have kinda modified the song towards the ending. And forgive me, this demo lacks synchronization and is rhythmically out a little so I practically did it by feel.

Cos' playing with the original song as a backing track is a little inconvenient and I would mess up because the song is kinda feely and swaying, I easily get carried away. You could think the off-sync as some sort of delay/echo effects hah. This explains why the metronome is vital for amateur musicians.

The recording is made by line-in from the output-headphone of my amp. It is consist of 2 tracks basically..er..actually 3. The 3rd is an add-on in the 3rd section of the song. The breakdown:
1. The full playing with a little added gain for extra volume and fuzziness.
2. Clean channel with only the lead notes (which goes out of sync quite most of the time)
3. Add-on to track 2.
...erh after its completion only I realised, how bad the synchronization is. Cutting, time-shifting and alignment of tracks have been done to improve "audibility". Particularly only the 3rd section I feel sounds good till the ending. I will do a better one next time, or call a jam-in of this song. Better live sync.

This song was uploaded by Hooi in his blog before. I wonder, you should be eager to try out this song too. So simple and yet nice to play and listen to. For some of you guys could just use their ears to get nail this song down. Happy music-ing.

Well, I plan when the 777th post comes, I will post an imba blistering superspeed shredding with sweep picking and string skipping..someday...hah

Now, for the personal..haha. [Outdated]
1st week of 3rd semester. Mum's birthday. I forgot. Until dad sent an sms. wouh. Kill mum again heh. Did a push jogging and run one evening. That was a great spontaneous joining my friend for an exercise as I just got back from class......

...[Updated]
So there you go new songs for a different season, mood and flow of life. I have 3 referral songs this time. Alice In Chains by Hooi. Rhapsody by Sharqawi and Kamen Rider song by my brother.

Wokei, classmate friend had brought his
Ibanez electric down here, from Perak. So it's time to "keep on rockin' in the free world". It's really not very free anymore now, workload and hectic schedule have been in the way. And will last until retirement day.

So many sidetracks. Distractions especially activities which consumed much time and healthy lifestyle..(like dota) had eaten substantial portions of free time meant for improvement (any kind except distraction forms) or rest.

And spending time building up firm friendship among classmates is great. It could be having break time together with meals and drinks, read stuffs and share opinions in the library, or sharing a pack of cigarettes with many. Of course the mentioned are other than working in a team during assignments or practicals. The latest being, joining in a futsal game which they regularly host. Around RM5 per hour only, and I get to kick futsal (like football) with classmates. And I scored a goal using my left leg after winning back the ball from the opponent. These extra moments are delightful as I do not get anymore "compulsory" activities which are organized for classes and students to get together like we all used to in secondary school.

Great, health and fitness can be improved. Jogging. Running. Sprinting. Futsal. Football (my co-curricular activity). oh yeah baby, Sharqawi's
F50 and Predator boots..here I come.

So, I thought I'm inhaling new fresh air only to realise that I abandoned this blog for almost 2 months. Never mind that. New sets of beliefs, principles and philosophical approach and motives shall set in. Every changes with beginnings and endings also welcome motivating seasons. So again here I am, to continue to live.

~Recording made possible by:
-Squier Tele
-Marshall amp
-Ibanez cable
-wires/jacks/adaptors
-Altec Lansing headphones
-plenty of holidays here and there
-turning down of dota games
-Ben teaching me a resonance technique to determine match tuning
-Audacity program (thanks to Musicman1066 and Ah Hooi for introducing)

76. Buck Freezes Asses

Personal/Ideals
Welcome, people between Hell and Heaven. Nilai home here I am, already.

Well, let's try something new. Let's talk about lamp posts. hahaha

Sometimes dim. Sometimes bright. Sometimes enlightening. But when the road is dark, a lamp post lights partially the way. And there are possibly billions of lamp posts in the world. Just like acquaintances or merely like people in a society. They share a similar melancholy, they are lonely. Stuck at a spot. Motorists and pedestrians just pass by. For those that are totally alright with the situation, they serve their purpose full-time, light up the streets.

But for some others, they long for something else. That is why some lamp posts blow out or dim down.

No complaints here. No bragging here. Just a mindful connection I'm making of myself with lamp posts. hahaha hey don't go emotional or think of it as one. Of how many times I bragged before about myself being single, I am actually somewhat enjoying the freedom of being unattached in the heart (minus the family connection) and at a same time I long for a close if not intimate company.

So, with plenty soul-searching (Hooi's term) (not searching for mates) over the years I am still good to go in believing in enjoying the free-flowing life of being a single although I STILL get jealous at seeing cute/beautiful/sweet girls being owned (like Hooi said, "I feel wasted" gilaswine comment but anyway he's a little far away from being single so just beat it). But for most of them I respect them couples for making it through...just by looking la...superficially. Cos I know it's tough in making real love.

And then, finally I...

I am still a freeman. I am going to fulfill what I would like to do with freedom before getting any piece of my heart meat hooked. But if that time would be cut short, I guess I would want to handle things part-time. Unpredictable.

Not hinting. I just found my new refuge. Over new aspirations. Fresh expectations. Great flow of motivation. Over my new layout of workplace. Looks good.
Can look through the mirror if I want to "kap-kei" Jonathan at games. So there's the setup and wires all around for the action.

Enough of take on the lamp post journey. Let's move to Buck. Somewhat a similar topic.

Have you watched Ice Age 3. It's not bad. It's the only Ice Age movie I watched. Good for family. Good for friends. Good for anybody not too violent.

Good for lonely people. I like it. That weasel character, Buck. Is someone who I would like to resemble to myself. Minus the bravery and skillfulness. Adventurous. Loves the freedom and challenges he faces by being solo.

My new bedsheet. Thanks mum..I love it. Gray. With butterflies..~Little wing(s).
[you could use some viewing program/photoshop to do color inverse then you can see the original color]

It's weird though i could actually survive doing nothing or something that is perceived by myself as nothing when everybody out there get bored to hell sitting in their homes waiting patiently for some plans to be executed. Clearly, I have a strong sense of self-indulgence. Bad and good.huh

But I ain't a loner, some social outcast nor someone who isolates himself or estranged person. I have so much fun with friends ya noe..

I have the brotherhood. Thanks to all the brothers and sisters.

This is like the end of a live rock show. So i am feeling it. cos i'd never had the chance to do so. But if I have, then it's also the work of support from you brothers and sisters.
[actually it ended already...outdated statement]

No, actually the rock show has just begun...jeng jeng jeng

Thanks man, for the support, company, experience, lessons, motivation and ENERGY
uh no, no please not the Taiwan chinese boy band. This post is ending as a dedication as once again I have left my home sweet home Penang island. Killing my mother's feelings haaha.

Ah, the Ye-Wheen's Crybaby pedal I used for the wah recording.

Into 3rd semester. Gona end one half of my diploma program. kick-ass.

Have fun, check this out http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/general_music_news/death_cab_singer_slams_30_seconds_to_mars.html about acting rockstar.

oh if you are free, try check the song on Ixion's Wheel in my filefactory music player. The short lyrics is not bad. Nice touch on retribution.

Let me end the post with this excerpt from a Linkin Park song.
"Because say what you will, and say what you might
But don't ignore who it's for at the end of the night"~Dedicated, 1999

75. Rock And Roll Ain't Pollution

Review/Personal/Ideal
Headache...pity Khang Yang who did the whole hard trip day's driving. Give a toast to him from here. The endless rain has deterred us from going on our spiritual journey to Pantai Kerachut through hiking. It's really endless. So the supposedly-MIA-Jonathan was awoken after we cancelled our plan. Then we head to erh..a sudden call for lunch by a lady...at Noodle Station. Bowling was our intention. 3 games. Winners of the games: C; G; TKP. ReMaKe for dota game at CC...which we gamed till almost 5 hours. Another unexpected dinner place, Faces. Enjoyed a so-so guitar-vocals performance. Good for the ears. Farewell friends and acquaintances.

Hey yeah, also remembered as the self-pwnage day. Where everyone of us, particularly especially Ky Ng said something funny which is not supposedly aimed at himself but it backfired to himself. Spare the details...maybe someday you would be told of some of them jokes.

+new ESP .8mm pick - hard
Two DVDs of particular live performance recording. Superb. Great. Super energy bursting. Look at Dave Mustaine showcasing his music with Megadeth rocking. And be awed by Angus Young's super muscle breaking showmanship with the guitar with AC/DC rocking. Classics of metal and rock..

yeah this post title deserves its recognition and respect. It's a songtitle by AC/DC. It's hard. It's loud. It's beating. It's rock. In the heart.

ah...maybe some modern guitaring and drums in the pop/rock industry produced too loud and interfering high pitch and amplitude sound waves. Then parents at home start complaining on your noise level. NOISE in relation and statement. Save your sorry ass before neighbours and more relatives coming after you for your noisy interest.

But you could save your heart and dignity by listening to classic rock. So far in my opinion, my parents do no complaints much when I'm listening to the classics. Respect...or maybe I'm just a little more grown up so they don't nag too much. But come on, I blasted the hi-fi with these rock and blues and I get positive feedback...No complaints on noise level. Whatever, I'm just reiterating on the statement. So rock-ass...

The other day. At Wawasan Open University. Some event thing. There's this Kelvyn Yeang's guitar clinic/workshop we attented. For me, I learnt great stuffs. On a related note, he gave some vital information on setting up the sound for the band. About mid, low and highs of tones. An inappropriate setup would result in very high noise level, take his example; play the guitar loud and on a higher pitched tone plus the drums crashing the cymbals trying to be louder.

Oh yeah, you want to improve naturally on some rock and roll 8-beat you get AC/DC. ok..I'm overrating these classics now... And here's a low quality recorded impromptu playing by me using my Tele through YW's Dunlop Crybaby effect pedal and to his Roland Microcube amp.

So about improving and achieving success or scoring some milestone...

Hooi says, "you gotta work for it. you want a gig you push for it"

YW says, "hardwork IS passion. So don't go around giving excuses like " aiya he everyday play guitar mah of course pro". Since when do you become good at something the moment you like it?"

What's hard as rock? Hardwork. Yeah. As all we know too well, nothing comes free and easy. Talent in my opinion may just be a starting advantage or naturally coming out with something great. An edge. People with talent still work hard. Just a little note for myself anyway and for all who yearns for success and satisfaction.

So work all your way up. Whatever you would like to do. Try to treat complacency like getting interests from your yearly fixed deposit in the bank. That's all, right...nothing more than just earning some tips. Not some raining dollar bills.

Do keep Stressm in mind, don't mess with others' lives. Happiness added.

oh yeah...

74. For the Time & Tide

Personal/Ideal/Review
BOOKS! Read books. Any book. When the 3rd semester kicks in, I will have to read the textbooks and do researches and reading. In that case, I will have less time for any other activity.

But come on, life's not 100% 24hours or an ongoing 52 x 7 x 24 x 60 x 60 seconds of career/study/money... So, I gotta fit in time for hobbies. Internet (without fail, wateva the activity is). Guitar. Exercise. Novels. Research.

So how am I going to fulfill my everyday's wish...to sleep well at the appropriate timing and duration. On free days during study period, I sleep usually at 1am and then wake up at either these times: 7.20am/ 10am/ 12pm. Or if I sleep damn late like at around 5am or at 6am I will wake up earliest at 1pm. If insomnia strucks like it happened a month ago during the study leave, sleep at 9am then wake up at 5pm. Game over.

During this current holidays, I do a usual 3am sleep and averaged 12pm waking up if no morning plans.

But for the new term and season, I have dug this out and put it in my to-do list to keep up some productivity level. Enter the model kit craft work.
This is not about Transformers at all.
My brother bought this years ago but never had started on it.
[Either my brother or I misplaced the cutter so it's missing]
He has another one, a Version Ka Wing Gundam..er..the hero's model in Gundam Wing's series. Maybe next year if he didn't manage to sell it off. And a Red Jagd Doga. Oh yeah I am a fan of Gundam. Model kits. Didn't exactly watch the shows except the movie for Gundam Wing.

Freedom Gundam - Gundam Seed 1/100 scaled MG kit.

Will aim for: Sazabi - - - - - great, me and brother were awed at the price long time ago that was RM500plus. Then at Times Square, we saw the price went down to RM250. But didn't think of buying anyway. Actually, it's waste. Now you can find it at around RM300plus. There's also the shining version at RM500. And at Queensbay, I found that they came out with the HG (a form of grading from highest: PG(perfect), MG(master), HG(high)) version with a smaller box packing and it's priced around RM100-RM200..forgotten.

Infinite Justice from Gundam Seed would do too. Great. Great. Great.

That's all for now. Countdown: 10 days left on Island. Kiss me as much as possible before I leave. I mean my ass. hahah

>>>>Kelvyn Yeang guitar clinic and Ocean Of Fire performance later..5th July 1300-1600hrs.

73. Fun & Blaring

Review
Take more than one amplifier. Or add at least one Hi-fi system if at home.

Get more than one cable. 1 electric guitar cable is sufficient. The rest you just need any matching cables/slots or either get adapters if you have differently matched plugs and slots.

Method 1: (What I did)
-Connect Guitar to Amp. And then from line-out(in my case, the headphones slot) to Hooi's Amp. Tadaa..You get two amplifiers blasting your playing.
-It's just fun stuff. This is actually super ultra mega basic setup for effects and amplification.
-Amps are basically pre-amps with speakers. The pre-amp setting up the tones and how you sound like and then go to output by speakers. Simple.

Method 2: (Which I could do)
-Connect Guitar to Amp. Amp to Hooi's Amp. Hooi's Amp to Hi-fi. Jeng jeng jeng..You get triple amplication. I can get my amp's tone out by itself then it's filtered in Hooi's and add his tone adjustments(also can be heard by itself) and then boom boom through the Hi-fi, which is also filtered and get the hi-fi contouring.

Wait. wtf. I just realised..Am I even writing a true thing..Wait...Did I really get two outputs through my own amp and Hooi's amp. Because if you line-out output through the headphones slot it should actually mute the speaker and goes to the headphones/other devices.

WEIRD. I thought I heard that day trying this out, 2 amplifiers blasting my AC/DC riffs. WTH

But anyway, if you could just find a line-out slot that would just do the connection fine. Like how people add speakers or line-out to the whole concert hall speakers. hmm...provided it's not muted by diverting the signal away. Funny. I've got my facts mixed. Will test the method again. Will be updated.

72. MJ, D, BB & Looping

Ideals/Review/Personal
It's alright Michael. I've come up with ways to remember you. "Just call my name and I'll be there"~Michael Jackson.

MJs..there's Mou Jian...there's Meng Jon..or maybe Mary Jane of Marvel's Spiderman. Then there's Ye-Wheen's guitar brand which is Jackson
. Aha, Wilson's brother's name is Jackson. Never mind people of the world. Just remember, he rocked the stages with his dance moves and unceasing stamina pouring. I have started to practise the moonwalk already. Meng Jon could do it almost perfect and he taught me several years ago.
*
Let's move on to Beau Bristow. Thank you Hooi, Matthew Ng and Mel for inviting. It's a great music performance by him, alone. Great. Superb solo. Doing it all himself. Really cool. Especially with the effects.

That's called "looping". Some sort of recording technique and playback to accompany your music playing. It's simple. It's a form of recording yourself playing some rhythm and then replaying the track and then you jam to it.

But with the loop effects setup, performer gets to do it all live and on the spot. Like how Beau did it. Otherwise, some effect pedals actually do have pre-set tracks already. Like this product, Line 6 JM4 Looper. By the way he uses a Taylor acoustic guitar. WOOH. With the ES pickups system which I knew of. It's great. The wood and the resonance. Just so natural, full bodied smooth tender crisp sound. And with the guitarist's playing, it just sounds great.

Some similar effects pedal which Beau uses, Boss RC-20 Loop Station

Some similar Taylor guitar which Beau uses

Check these out.
This might not be totally related but it's about the effects chaining and arrangements...here.
This, is bluesy/jazzy...his improvisation sounds blues to me maybe..

And this is the similar way of performing as how Beau Bristow did it.

I didn't buy his album though but in our hearts we continue to support his work. Wish him the best of luck in his career as a recording and a performing musician.

Hooi and I actually sat in front of the cross last thursday night and enjoy music. With sharing of love for the lord and Jesus. And getting A new friend and meeting old friends. Especially Andrew Chan, whom I last met in 2001 as a classmate in primary school. Alex Lim, edbod senior and mentor. ahah last but not least
RODNEY the over-Friendly. Ask Hooi or Wan Ching or Matthew or Andrew to know how friendly he was. Great punching bag and a shooting target too. Goodall kopitiam guleng peng had some drugs which made Mel very high that night and she cracked lame jokes in very cool ways.seriously really =D Enjoy.

oh yeah saw some green Ibanez pedal which Beau has on the pedal board too..looks like Tube Screamer.

71. With Passion & Patience for Faith

Ideals/Personal
Check out this Luke Edney recommended by Ye-Wheen. Great great blues..great great great...
"It's so easy"~It's So Easy, Guns N' Roses 1987

Yes, it's easy. To survive if we're not going to create and reinvent or start a new kind of living and discard the old edge, we just innovate and reuse standard conformed ways. Like we do everyday.

That is why dying is unique. It involves displacement of tears and plenty of brain and heart muscle abnormal contractions. Because no one has ever come back to tell us how is the living different from the life we're currently in. That's the new edge. A new horizon.

Well, I'll be eager for it and support Dave Mustaine. He is coming up with a new world order. More information.

Oh YEAH, Rock-A$$ has updates ongoing this season. Hopefully it could pack some entertainment.

"oh baby nice shoes..." eheh cos it's 23rd on a Tuesday, another day to "Tuesday's Gone".

70. Sound Hardware & Transmission

Reviews/Ideals/Personal
This is a kinda like a review. You're gona get bored if you aren't exactly interested in audio engineering or just as simple as setting up an electric guitar to an amp, meaning you just like to switch on the radio and press the buttons there.

Never mind, let's get on with something new I just got. I like doing these kind of things such as discovering new techniques and trying some basics in connecting tis n tat n tis which is more than switching on the radio and press the buttons. I enjoy plugging and testing setups. Physically and hardware-ly. No, not computer systems or softwares.

Basically, I like to do these sound setting up and trying out some basic sound devices for home use. First work, trying some guitar-amp-output-input plugging with different kinds of jacks.

See, I've been aiming to purchase these. And here I just got the chance to test it out, I bought them at RM3.80 each which I think you could get them cheaper else where. But never mind, I couldn't wait any longer to test the workability that I've thought and planned of.
[the ones with black bodies:I call them adapters-which convert the plug type/size into a suitable one which can fit into holes of any other appliances which require so. They are BIG and SMALL -male plugs. Another kind of jack is the one found usually with audio/video player, TV and PlayStation.]

Let's name them A and B. A being the larger body with tiny male plug and B, the small bodied large male plug.

Guess what, they worked. But not at the best quality especially A. You want, you go to the old town and look for old electrical retail shops or maybe some specialised electrical/electronical device shops. They should have them for specialised use. I got them at Jusco electrical appliances section at Queensbay which are for general use.

A:
-to connect BIG-male plugs (especially electrical guitar cables) to computers/devices(SMALL-holes) that do not have the BIG-holes
-so I use it to plug electrical guitar to my laptop for recording purposes
-OR I plug it into my hi-fi player...wow...I can sound like I'm playing from a CD
-OR I plug it as a line-out from my laptop to the amplifier...just to listen music from 10Watts loud amp(classic radio feel)
---either 1. straight from guitar to device or 2. bypass through an effects(pedal). Which in my case I don't have one so I use my amplifier for the Gain(distortion effect). In this case, 1. a Double-ended-BIG-male plug cable is required e.g my electric guitar cable; 2. two pieces are required.
Note: the SMALL-male plug on A is the typical and conventional audio wire/cable end of headphones(as line-in) and some microphones(as line-out).

B:
-to connect SMALL-male plugs (like stated in the Note for A) to amplifiers/devices(BIG holes) that do not have the SMALL-holes (like my amplifier and hi-fi player) and vice-versa
-so I use it to plug headphone to my amplifier for discreet purposes (like when playing at night)
---straight from amplifier fit adapter to headphone jack. In this case, my amplifier has a line-out BIG-hole which I fit in the adapter and then the headphone jack so the sound is muted at the amplifier speaker output, the sound is directly transmitted to the headphone.

Actually they are really simple items. But rather, I'm just feeling more-content-than-not for accomplishing such try-outs. So I could practise quietly to myself (but loud to only my ears) and maybe start on some recording of my music. My piece of discovery and tips: Try playing through the headphones and you will get to judge how smooth, clean, accurate and consistent you are. I did very badly..heh. Advice: Don't blast the amp too loud into your headphones.

Oh my, I'm so interested in these electricals. No, actually not. I'm into sound engineering. Sound Engineer or Producer was like my 4th/5th choice of ambition few years back. Now it's become my hobby of learning and applying the techniques.

As I'm very particular with sound quality and hearing experience I'm into setting up for great sounds. A lot of aspects come into play actually. For my level, I just keep to a minimal hearing loss heh. If you want perfect, get sound-treated walls/ceilings/floors, properly positioned outputs, properly positioned listening place, super HD LCD/plasma TV and a super good clean crisp harmony of sound system in the room. Now that's what I call DREAM THEATER..hahah!

Reuben Ch'ng if you know him, he's doing recording and he has these sound engineering tools and appliances in his home studio. Great.

A piece of appreciation to Musicman1066 for his tips and advices on these music and sound work.

May not get a speaker system this year. Might get my brother's 10 years old(since his purchase of a whole PC setup) 2.1 system instead. Up to you, if I'm an audiophile..at least lvl 1. Harvey Norman at Queensbay has some great Altec Lansing models. One being demonstrated is MX5021 if not mistaken. Not bad. RM500+. Jusco has too. Alongside SonicGear, Creative etc. Oooh Eric has Creative speakers.

69. Lest The Fingers Bleed

Oh yeah? yeah. The island had packed powerful fun for me and I gave my powerful punch/kick back by... stepping on the Pedal of Life. On my Viva la Ride. Warning: Drive responsibly.

Sunday was a harmonious day spent with family at Queensbay. Monday was a joyful day spent with Jon. Tuesday was a energetic night spent with whole lotta people. All 3 nights had supper till pass 12am.

And I met a girl...ada fate/destiny..young lady..beautiful-pretty-sweet 9/10 rated female. Twice. 2 nights. 2 different venue. Same time frame, 12am. But she has a boyfriend. I'd be ready to go take over the bf's position if a break happens T.T heh =.=

Ideals

So let's kick off with the new season. Maybe. For many, exams are over. For some, new semester begins. For the many, their holidays just kicked in! Kick-ass 69 hah.
[Back in Black..and white]

As for me, yeah if you remember I said I'll be gunning people down. haha not exactly. I will slowly burn the city on the island. Burn in my context is heating it up. My Viva tyre rubber marks wouldn't be enough so I'm calling everyone else who are enjoying life to heat and spice up the life in Penang. Don't get me wrong environmentalists, we're not promoting global warming nor engaging in green house gases diffusion in a large scale. We just want to live life to the fullest. 100% efficiency in converting mental energy to fun energy, for the moment. WALK with me!

I just want to exclaim my objective of believing in life. In life lies a threshold filled with joy and happiness. We just need to mine for it. But if you use a rusty pick or dig carelessly, everything could just collapse and we would see ourselves falter into gloom and darkness.

Whatever... Make your seconds and moments while enjoying worthwhile everytime. Good enough.

Here, I would like to not promote but share this with you fellow musicians and music enthusiasts.

I like his style. He is great. Kudos. Part minute 3.30-3.50 is superb. By the way, it's an instrumental rock/metal guitar piece. Can't stand heavy/"noisy" music, please don't approach.

Here it is, he's Musicman1066 from http://www.freewebs.com/musicman1066/
There you can learn tips and get his own work of guitar tabs.

Personal
Today is the last day. Today is the day. When Hell let loose of something. Unpredictable. But it ain't judgement day.

And today the something is going to muster all its energy. The something is going to lead an outroar of many something. To revel in the resources and elements of satisfaction. To the ISLAND.

yeahoo. Will be back very soon. Many are returning too. We all love the Island, don't we? We will always love it. Drown with Hell! choi choi choi tai-kei-lei-si *touchwood...

Well, I'm going to collect some energy to write something productive and meaningful to myself. Something I always did after a long haul of being not at home. I need the peace in my mind. Something related which follows up for Hooi's Terminator Salvation. That kind of write-up is very good. It stimulate all our thinking. It all depends, up to people individualism or comformity to commonality to accept the divergence of unholy remarks. By unholy I mean thoughts and professions that do not go along with the available mainstream religions today.

Many would take this as a desecration of being alive as being a creation and going against the existence of the creator. Which in writings by far anyone in the world who attempted to touch contents which are already covered in the bibles would have suffered execration. No, I may not want to touch your religion. I don't like to create such sensitivity. I talk about mine, alright.

Forgive, I pompously used certain words which I just found in the dictionary. ahah.

Well, go party of course tonight. Where should I go? Anywhere could avoid some big bang for the bucks...M.O.S burns wallets heh..still, everyone wants a drink. gulp

Wth with the name Gianna Jun? And her face just looks like Jeon Ji-Hyun. For the upcoming (American)-ized Blood: Last Vampire movie. I'm new to this, there's like an anime of it.

Yes, she is Jeon Ji-Hyun. My all-time... nothing. She is great in My Sassy Girl a Korean movie back in 2001.

6(sic)6. Who's the MAN?

[Exclusive mid semester issue post+(very outdated posting+edits)=end semester already]
Edits(in white) had been done to correct some technical glitch in the writing.

Personal/Ideals
--It's a matter of days to go and I'll be gunning down people back in Penang, the island.

"the existence of life is a highly overrated phenomenon."
"Born from oblivion; bear children, hell-bound as ourselves, go into oblivion. There is nothing else. Existence is random."
These are quotes(googled) from the movie Watchmen. Definitely a must-feel movie. Philosophical and thrilling perspectives and principles. That's what I long for to experience in my brain. And those quotes just fill up certain uncertain bridges of countless questions and conceptions. At least for me, I have my own interpretation and belief in them. And some things just got more intriquing. That's interesting.

Feel yours today, go watch it.heh. I thought at first the poster looked like some kind of costumed make-up superheroes movie or spoof show. 10 minutes into the movie I proved myself wrong and I changed my mode from just-attending to movie-experiencing, the "watchman" way. Maybe a handful or not would brand/rate/comment this movie as ridiculous and a waste of time...some friends they just weren't enjoying the movie fully. Hopefully they don't represent the majority. Nevermind..different tastes anyway. But I admit it's lengthy and dragging with great philosophical talks. Even then, I've went to watch in the cinemas twice already.

I would like to write up a post on the movie and story but only if I have enough to brainspill someday so..we'll see. So far, no-go.

Into the first 6 months of the year. Is it that time flies quickly? Or passing too slowly. Nope, it's quite good. Everything's progressing finely. Step by step one by one piece by piece and reasons and lessons in life are picked up. Good and bad they exist for sure for the consummation of life. Happy and sad all be conquered gracefully. phew..so far so good la to be precise.

The downside...I think I'm feeling that my language is deteriorating. For BM, it's already constant. For English, this is the problem. Because:
-I have been writing it less
-I have been speaking it less (also applies to listening, except music)
-I have been writing totally simple short notes for studies
-I have been reading not so proficient writing of notes and studies (not complaining..)
-I have been learning and improving my Mandarin and Thai hah
{note the kind of posts delivered were like out of tune :s}

It was before 2 months ago: ...weeks without internet. No downloads. No chattings. No blog-reading. No e-mailing. No research. But of course I'm not that unproductive. I did go to the library to do my homework... Now yeah, I have internet already.(obviously).

ok..time for a sidewinder's change..from now on I'm trying to change a little for my style of writing. Not applicable to Stress-talks(Stressm) and Ideals. It's especially for my personal accounts of story-telling and a-z detailed movement and percentage of alcohol consumed.

I'm getting unhealthy. My body spells a downward spiral of fitness level with increasing unhealthy activities(gaming till sunrise), eating so oily/salty food and too little exercise.
This sums up my report of to-be fitness level:

100m sprint -- Spot the last position
K.Kinabalu Hike -- Hell would be cooler~plan postponed
Badminton..I won none matches this year, played only once anyway.. ya noe ever since moved outside to rented house.

Advice: Try best not to poison yourself. Intoxication by either nicotine, alcohol or party drugs only stir up your senses and cause a complication in body functions. That is why Islam forbids those. Intoxication ruins the nervous functions. The root of our life and body is in the brain, the mind. Bersyukurlah dengan badan yang sihat. Tahu cakap kena tahu buat la...

*2*Tad-bits of bite for the season: No insultation here. Try for a change, friendly humans. Put a stop to branding yourselves as emo. I think this trend is somewhat distasteful, and I think a majority of us would have in common in our mind that these "emos" are modern post-Emo wannabe junkies. Even though there might be some (or no) non-comforming ideals in them but certain modern settlers today embraced the so-called cult and turned into some kind of culture in which people would describe themselves as "emotional" or sad and having a bad life. Trust me, what kind of bad life is that when things just don't go and happen they way you desired in life, that's life. Not that I experienced better, I knew of worse and physically-threatened situations.

And most of the time I don't even think you people are troubled, it has somewhat become a wannabe style.. Leave aside the emo cult which epitomises wrist-cutting and extreme eye-shadowing. Talk about plain-clothes emo. Forgive me friends and acquaintances, I'm merely reflecting a general and unbiased view on the current vision upon people who like to be emo so much. I know, there are sane and wonderful people would have gotten used to the word as an everyday casual term for the mood. There's nothing wrong. But in this context, you're being associated to the very unpleasant and annoying bunch of youths.

It's not like there's no other words to use...like sulking or "merajuk". Sad. Emotional. Depressed. Sick. PMS. Desperately in need of attention. There are especially associations with Lala(s) too, that's the sad truth. Portraying emo-ness in their ways, giving a new twist to their style. h3ll0 PpL, I'm EMO 4eVa.(tm)

And on another note regarding the showcasing of lala style. Please, try your best not to mimic the lala way of expression. It's detrimental. As jokingly it is said, "either you die a sane, or you live long enough to see yourself becoming a lala".*
